An Introduction To Whispers Of Wisdom

This series of short reflective stories, each built around a quiet awakening, the kind that doesn’t arrive with fireworks, but in whispers that will help you to shift in awareness. These are designed to speak gently to the subconscious, invite self-reflection, and plant seeds that continue growing long after the story ends.

I’ve lived 91 years on this earth and, in that time, I’ve seen tremendous changes. I shared a beautiful life with my loving wife for 67 years. We had four beautiful children, seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. All of them are special and unique in their own way. I’ve struggled through hardships, made mistakes, learned valuable lessons, and experienced the miraculous.

As a grandfather, you always want what is best for your family, and perhaps through these words of wisdom, you won’t fall prey to the same demons that haunted me. You may have to fight some of the same battles as I did, but you don’t have to do it alone. I have already fought the battles, and I can share which weapons to use and which armor to wear to protect yourself. It’s not that I know more. I’m just further down the road. I know the pitfalls because I already suffered through them.

Let me share with you how I see “Words of Wisdom from a Grandpa's Heart”. It’s like the story of inventing the wheel. It required hard work, trial and error, pain, and failure. But once it was built, others didn’t need to go through the same struggles. They didn’t have to re-invent the wheel each time; they just had to improve on it.

That’s what whispers from a grandpa’s heart are like. They are simply a way to improve the wheel without suffering. You see, I’ve already been through the hard part of life’s journey. I already made the mistakes and learned the lessons. These whispers are words of wisdom, born from real experience. They're not meant to control or correct, but rather to guide like a quiet voice helping you avoid the bumps and bruises I had to go through. Now it’s up to you to improve it: add another spoke to the wheel to make it stronger, put a rubber covering over the wheel to make it roll more easily and quietly.

These stories came to me during quiet moments of reflection and meditation. Each story is a seed that was gently planted in my mind, ready to take root in your heart and soul and bloom beautifully in your life.

They came from that soft voice that still whispers to me after I was healed from a severe depression over 38 years ago. The voice said, “You have to do something to help people.”

That is the purpose of my writing these stories. It is not to preach, to shout instructions, or to demand that you change what you believe. It is not about forcing new ideas but more about awakening something already within you, something sacred and timeless that longs to be remembered.

I want to see each of you thrive and prosper by living fuller, happier lives. But I can’t do that for you. The power to do so lies in your hands and your hands only.

What I can do is offer guidance, a different perspective. Maybe something I share with you will help you see a past situation in a new light. Perhaps it will bring you comfort, instill courage, or spark inspiration. Maybe it will simply remind you of a quiet truth you’ve always known in your heart. These can be a doorway to the unseen; a gentle parable wrapped in simplicity yet rich with meaning.

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah encountered God not in the wind or fire, but in a still, small voice. This is the kind of whisper these stories aim to reflect.

I called these short stories “Whispers of Wisdom” because true wisdom never shouts. It’s not demanding. It comes softly, like a gentle breeze that brushes against your heart. You have to lean in, quiet your mind, and listen closely to catch the depth of the message.

Let these whispers meet you where you are. Let them be companions on your journey. They will be like little lanterns of light in a dark world, guiding you and helping you to see things more clearly.

Take your time with them. Let the words linger. Let them speak to you in their own way, in their own time. Don’t just listen to them with your ears. Listen to them with your spirit, for it is often in the softest whispers that the most profound wisdom is found.

The more you reflect on them, the more profound impact they will have on your life. You will notice a positive change in every area of your life: your relationships, your inner peace, your dreams, your purpose, and even your healing.

These are more than mere short stories. They are whispered invitations to look deeper. They are mirrors of the soul and keys to doors that have never been opened. They are Whispers of Wisdom.

Whatever time I have left on this earth, I want to continue to help people. If some of my stories are helpful to you, then tell others about them. To learn more about my healing from depression, read valuable information, and see informative videos, visit my website at www.goodtapes.com.

Thanks again, and God Bless You.

The Guard at the Door: Who is guarding your door?

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to succeed effortlessly, while others struggle no matter how hard they try?

Why is it that at times, we feel inadequate, insecure, or inferior—even when there’s no real reason to? The answer may lie in something you might not have paid much attention to: Your Self-Talk.

You see, the things we quietly tell ourselves day in and day out, those little inner conversations, can shape the course of our lives. The subconscious mind is one of the most powerful forces within us. It doesn’t judge or analyze. It doesn’t question whether what we tell it is true or false. It simply accepts it and acts on it. That means if you’ve been telling yourself, “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll never succeed,” or “I always mess things up,” your subconscious is taking those words as truth and shaping your reality to match them.

But here’s the good news: just as your mind can be programmed to hold you back, it can also be reprogrammed to set you free. The Bible says, “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” That transformation begins with what you tell yourself.

This little story will help you understand the power of your subconscious mind and how it functions. It will also show you how it can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. Let me share a story. It’s a simple tale, but within it lies a powerful truth about how we can start to change the way we think… and in doing so, change our lives for the better. As you read this story, it will paint a picture in your mind, and it will remain there to help you be in control of your mind instead of letting it control you.

Let me share with you a little story:

This is a true story, rooted in experience and backed by science. But for now, let’s set those things aside.

Use your imagination. Let the mind drift inward, beyond logic and noise, to a place few ever truly see, and many don’t know exists.

Imagine a vast, echoing chamber. It stretches beyond what the eyes can see, an endless realm of memories, beliefs, emotions, and impressions. This is the Subconscious Mind.

But it’s more than a chamber. It’s a presence. A force. A recording device that never stops. Every moment you’ve lived, every word spoken to you, every emotion felt, every image seen has been quietly stored here. No detail is too small. No whisper is too soft. It’s all here. A living archive of everything you are, everything you've been told, and everything you've come to believe about yourself and the world.

But no one enters freely.

Standing at the only visible entrance is a towering figure. He is large, stern, and intimidating. Dressed in a crisp black uniform polished to a mirror shine, adorned with badges and insignias of logic, rules, and warnings inherited from parents, teachers, religion, culture, and society. His face is impassive, carved from the stone of tradition. His eyes are piercing and analytical. His arms crossed, posture rigid. There’s a spiritual weight to him, old, commanding, vigilant.

This is the Conscious Mind—the gatekeeper.

He is not evil. He means well. He believes he’s protecting you. But he is cautious, so cautious that he blocks not only danger but sometimes also the very healing you need. He lets through what is familiar, what aligns with past beliefs, what feels safe, even if it isn’t.

Now, imagine this scene:

A small man approaches the gate. “I’d like to go in,” he says quietly.

The guard looks down. “Who are you?”

“I’m Stupid,” the man replies.

The guard nods without question. “Go on in.”

And Stupid enters the Subconscious.

Moments later, another figure arrives. “I’d like to go in.”

“Who are you?”

“I Can’t Do Anything Right.”

“Alright,” the guard nods again. “Go on in.”

The clothes this person is wearing have patches with other people’s insults on them. Labels of Judgments. He walks slowly with his eyes looking down, his shoulders hunched. Then come more: Anger, Hatred, Resentment, Bitterness. Their boots slam on the floor like thunder. They are loud. Heavy. Dressed in jagged, harsh garments of dark red, black, and rust. They snarl and spit out old wounds.

“I’m Not Smart Enough.” “I’m Too Fat.” “I’ll Never Be Good Enough.” “I Don’t Belong.”

All of them are granted access. No questions asked. The guard lets them through, believing their presence is justified. They align with something he’s seen or heard before. They are familiar. They are past programs that may not be true.

The Subconscious grows crowded. Cluttered. A once-beautiful, warm, bright, well-lit temple turns into a cold, black battleground of self-doubt. The voices inside grow louder, echoing off the walls like a canyon. They become beliefs, hardened with repetition.

Then something unusual happens.

A gentle figure approaches. His steps are quiet. His presence is warm. He projects a soft, glowing light. “I’d like to go in,” he says.

The guard squints. “Who are you?”

“I’m Love.”

There’s hesitation. The guard shifts. His eyes narrow, his demeanor changes.

“I’m sorry,” he says in a harsh, firm voice. “There’s no room for you. Go further down the road. You’ll find a bench. Sit there and don’t say anything.”

Love nods quietly and walks away. His robes are soft, glowing with golden threads. A gentle, warm, soothing light trails behind him. He reaches the bench, which is worn but steady. A name is etched into the wood: The Transformation Bench.

He sits.

Time passes.

Others arrive. Compassion. Forgiveness. Peace. Happiness. Each approaches the guard. Each is turned away. Each walks to the bench and takes a seat beside Love.

They are puzzled. Confused. “We want to go in, but the guard won’t let us.”

Their robes are radiant, hues of blue, white, gold, and violet. Their voices are soft. Their eyes shimmer with empathy. They want to make a difference, but they are not allowed to go in.

Together, they wait.

Then one of them, Wisdom, perhaps leans forward and whispers, “Has anyone checked for another way in?”

The group stands, leaves the bench, and begins to search. They walk the perimeter of the great chamber. And there, hidden behind thick vines of fear and layers of forgetfulness, they find it: a small, nearly invisible door.

No guard. No rules. No signs. Just a silent invitation.

They try the handle. It’s stiff. Rusted. Unused. But with patience and unity, they press forward.

The door opens.

They step inside.

The room is thick with noise. A storm of old voices. Echoes of pain. Lies told long ago. Whispers repeated into beliefs:

“I’m Stupid.” “I’m Ugly.” “I’ll Never Be Enough.” “I can’t do that.”

But then

Love speaks a single word, precise and gentle.

Compassion follows. Forgiveness. Peace. Happiness.

Their voices spread like light across water. The sound of truth begins to soften the static. The darkness becomes light. The old voices falter. The atmosphere shifts. A stillness enters. The noise doesn’t vanish, but it starts to fade.

And the chamber changes.

From darkness to light, light, from tension to release, from distortion to clarity.

Music begins to play not with instruments, but with feeling. A kind of angelic hum that vibrates at the frequency of healing. The light grows into a brilliant, white, heavenly light.

The old voices shrink back.

Love moves forward.

Compassion moves forward, and Forgiveness. Peace. Happiness follows. Their voices grow louder, Stronger, and the room begins to change.

The darkness fades.
The noise softens.
And the entire space begins to transform. Because when those powerful forces enter, everything changes for the better.

The Subconscious begins to heal.

And outside, the guard notices. Something in him that shifts. His shoulders relax. His eyes soften. For the first time, he feels safe not by control, but by surrender.

Because now, there’s a better way in.

That back door? We’ll call it Hypnosis.

It’s the gentle key to the subconscious. The passage that bypasses the guard, the logic, the fear. It’s not manipulation. It’s restoration. Not trickery. But the truth. Scripture says, “The truth will set you free.”

It’s a spiritual key, an inner prayer. A way to remove what doesn’t belong and restore what does. A method that doesn’t fight the guard but gently invites him to rest.

And now

You’ve made a decision. You’ve chosen to change.

To live a life filled with peace, with truth, with possibility.

Even the Bible says, “You can be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

This is that renewal. This is the beginning.

And it’s never too late. Not for you. Not for the mind. Not for the soul.

Welcome to the journey inward. Welcome to healing. Welcome to the truth of who you are. And the truth will set you free.

You have decided to change. It’s your choice to live a happier, peaceful, and more productive life than ever before.

“You can truly become what God created you to be.

And now…
That little back door—
That gentle, sacred door called transformation or hypnosis,
It is now open for you.

You don’t need to fight the guard.
You don’t need to believe those old lies anymore.

You can be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
You were made for love, for joy, and for peace.

And now…

It’s your time to let them in.

It’s never too late.

Blessings to you! …… From: Louis P. Bauer, Ph.D.
