In 2000, Hypertension was estimated to affect over a 65million Americans 
Take a slow deep breath, and then exhale slowly. Can you take fewer than 10 breaths a minute? Research suggests breathing 10 breaths or less for a few minutes a day is enough to help some people nudge down high blood pressure.
It seems like an odd connection, but an experiment earlier this year determined that deep breathing can have a positive effect on high blood pressure. Thanks to the results of this recent study, it is now known that individuals with high blood pressure may experience some improvement in blood pressure levels just by breathing very slowly for a few minutes each day.
The experiment conducted by Dr. David Anderson at the National Institutes of Health showed that slow breathing consisting of fewer than ten breaths in one minute can lower a person’s blood pressure. This is certainly a useful bit of information for individuals who suffer from hypertension.
While some people might assume that the lowered blood pressure has something to do with the euphoric feeling created by breathing slowly, the truth is that it has more to do with how the body regulates blood pressure. Anderson believes that salt is harder to break down if an individual isn’t breathing enough. By breathing slowly, a person can make their body more efficient at breaking down salt. This theory might even explain why exercise has been proven to reduce high blood pressure. Shallow breathing is all too easy when you’re sitting and not moving enough.
Why would breathing slowly have anything to do with the breakdown of salt by the body? The kidneys are the main organs involved in eliminating salt from your body, and deep breathing helps your kidneys work properly. This can lead to a more efficient body, which can further lead to a reduction in high blood pressure.
If you find yourself in the pre-hypertensive range, you might want to try some deep breathing as recommended by Dr. Anderson. If your blood pressure is considered high, then you should arrange an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.

Sometimes people get so wrapped up in their problems, they can't see a solution. For them, the only light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming locomotive. But by changing their attitude and the way they perceive things, they can burst forth into the light and rise above their problems. The problems may still be there, but they are no longer beaten down by them.
Why do some patients given the same diagnosis live longer than others? Could the difference be their attitude? A man came to me several years ago and told me he had been diagnosed with cancer and only had about six months to live. He said, "I told the doctor, 'Like h---! I understand that if God takes me, fine. But I'm going to beat this d--- cancer!" His dream was to spend his retirement traveling with his wife so, after his diagnosis, he bought a motor home and set out This man was determined that the illness wasn't going to be his death sentence. That's probably why his six months turned into many years.
If you want to change your life you must first learn to change your attitude. Did you know that in the past few hours you might have had a negative attitude that, if entertained, may weaken your immune system and cause you to develop an unwanted health problem? It may even affect you mentally and emotionally and cause depression. But did you also know that in the past few hours you may have had a positive attitude, that if entertained, could strengthen your immune system and protect you from illness and disease and give you peace of mind and happiness?
Negative attitudes can weaken the immune system and slow down or stop the healing process. At the International Conference of the Psychology of Health, Immunity, and Disease, a speaker shared with us some research done involving the mind/body connection. The researchers took one group of people and had them watch a violent movie. After viewing the movie, blood samples were taken from each person in the group and their immune systems registered very low. The next day, they had the same group watch a movie about Mother Theresa. They took more blood samples and this time their immune systems registered extremely high. Their attitude, their mental process, had a direct effect on their body, in this case, their immune system.

It's a world bombarded with negativity, hatred, jealousy, and greed. The only way to not allow these things to affect you is to function on a higher level of consciousness.
